Episode 17 - My food and body story

Episode 17: My Food and Body Story

Click above.

Kia Ora and welcome to my seventeenth episode.
This episode is about my food and body story. It took a while for me to gather all my thoughts, but I'm glad you're here and am giving me your time to listen.
I hope that you find something that can help someone in this episode, hopefully yourself. If you think someone would benefit from this episode then please share.
I start off with my childhood and venture into my food and body issues over the years. I also talk about the reasons I sought help and how much better I'm doing after seeking help and working on myself. It's been life changing. I'm super grateful that I'm doing so much better and am in a space to be able to start sharing my story with others and hopefully help someone else out there who's struggling with food and their body. Thanks for your support and for listening.

Here are some of the things I talk about on the episode.

I talk about the movie Embrace. It's really good but I have to warn you it has medical pictures of women's bodies. So there are naked pictures on the movie, but they're not pornographic they're medical. I watched this movie with Yuki. She's 13 years old and it went really well.
If you watch it, let me know what you think.

Here are the ted talks I recommended.

This first one is: How to practice emotional first aid by Guy Winch. It's awesome.

This second one is: Looks aren't everything. Believe me, I'm a model by Cameron Russell

This last one is:

Eating and Body Dysmorphic Disorders: Crash Course Psychology #33

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMVyZ6Ax-74

All of these are so great. Let me know your thoughts if you'd like.

Here are some books that were recommended to me to read:

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of less.

Feeling Good about the way you look: A Program for Overcoming Body Image Problems.

The Broken Mirror: Understanding and Treating Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Intuitive eating the 4th edition.

This next book wasn't given to my by my therapists but I've heard it's a great one to read. If you've read it, let me know your feelings about it.

More than a body: Your Body Is an Instrument, Not an Ornament.

If there have been any other ted talks or video's, movies and books that have helped you in your life, let me know so I can share that with people.
Thanks for being here.
Until next time.........
